The Judicial Appointments Commission’s (JAC) process to select candidates for the post of Deputy District Judge is due to launch on 1 March 2018.
There are 303 vacancies across England and Wales. This presents an excellent opportunity for solicitors, barristers and chartered legal executives (who are Fellows) to apply for Deputy District Judge, which I can attest is an interesting and fulfilling role.
Deputy District judges hear a wide variety of civil and family law cases, including:
- claims for damages and injunctions
- possession proceedings against mortgage borrowers and property tenants
- divorces
- child proceedings
- domestic violence injunctions
- insolvency proceedings
